Since the day I know of Sheldon's condition, I done quite a fair bit of research. During the counseling with 1 of the specialist, we get to know that some parents actually abort healthy baby with cleft. Im saddened by the news, hence I like to share what I have found on the net hoping to let others have more knowledge about cleft lip and palate. I hope there is lesser innocent, healthy baby being aborted because of cleft. Cleft lip and palate are 100% treatable, pls let them come to this earth like any other children, they just need to go thru treatment and surgery.

What is a cleft lip?
A cleft is a split or fissure. So a cleft lip is a split in the upper lip, between the mouth and nose. Some children have only a small notch in the lip, whereas others have a more pronounced cleft. In babies with a severe cleft, there is a complete separation extending from the lip to the nose.
What is a cleft palate?
A cleft palate is when the roof of a baby's mouth has not joined completely, leaving a gap. It can happen with or without a cleft lip.
Babies are affected differently. If your baby has a cleft palate, he might have just a small gap. If the cleft is severe, the roof of his mouth may be almost completely separated.

Antenatal Check Up - Week 31
Sheldon's Weight: 2.048Kgm
Mummy's Weight: 53.6Kgm
Dr Wong commented that Sheldon's weight is consider quite heavy for my size. Sheldon has already turn and back facing my tummy. Hence we can no longer have the ultra sound picture of his face.
Mummy is not gaining weight well, Dr Wong expect me to be at least 54kgm, he commented that Im an underweight expecting mother. I did not skip my meals, in fact I even have heavy tea break, I just dont know why I dont gain well. So far I have gain 11.1Kgm since my pregnancy.
Im already starting to have mild contraction every now and then. Lately the contraction seem to get stronger and also experiencing more frequent Braxton Hicks contraction. Experience mothers are telling me that I might deliver in end Jan.
My next appointment will be in 2 weeks time, hopefully Sheldon had already engaged by then.

Christmas Gift
Have you been giving? Have u received your gift? If you don't spend Christmas meaningfully, it just another commercial public holiday. Lets not forget the less fortunate on such meaningful day, its a blessing to be able to share.
This year I donated 10Kgm of kibbles to the shelter, nothing really much, just hope that the less fortunate doggies at the shelter have a better Christmas and the amount of kibbles Anderson consolidated able to last them for a while.
Hubby bought me SK-II whitening mask, this Mother to be really need a good whitening mask after all the sun tanning I got from the swim.
This year our best gift is from GOD. God bless us with Sheldon in our life. Although he is diagnosed with cleft lip and palate at 5th month detailed scan, we still Thank God for blessing us this child. HB believe that God bless us this child because we are capable to nurture and provide for him. God also bless us with supporting family and friends, with their encouragement, support and prayer we were able to ride thru the darkest moment of our life. God also guide us to a group of specialist equip with the latest medical technology and the only orthodontics who practise N.A.M in South East Asia.
Once again, Merry Christmas to ALL!!!! I like to wishes everyone a blessed year 2010.

Stomach ache / Contraction 傻傻分不清楚
I was awaken last night by an intense stomach pain, first time to my mind was am I going to labour. I touch my bed to see whether my water bag broke, I rush to toilet after I verify that the bed is not wet.
I did not immediately LS, but went thru a good whole 10 mins of stomach chunning. I was so worried that Im going into labour soon. I was extremely tired after that, it doesnt help when I have to go for a second round in the morning.
I was completely exhausted after the 2 session of LS and I totally bonk out in the afternoon.
I have to start packing my hospital bag, nobody knows when on earth my dear son decide to announce his arrival.

Benefits of swimming during pregnancy
Took a dip at our neighbourhood swimming complex, this is our first time swimming at our neighbourhood swimming complex after shifting here for 2 years. We are impressed with the facilities available, there is a mini "Jacuzzi" and water theme park style play area for the children. We both agree that we should come here more often and that after Sheldon is much older, probably it would be our weekend family event.
By the way, swimming is a great exercise for the expecting mothers it helps to strengthen the pelvic muscle and shorten delivery time.

Vet visit
Oreo's skin problem is back, Im suspecting that she is allergic to the detergent. Dr Ling gave her a steroid jab and prescribe some anti fungal medication.
The other day, Boy was leaking blood from his penis. Luckily its was an one of incident, we really got scared out of wits...... Dr Ling check him and advise that his bladder and penis is normal, his urine sample does not have any blood nor extra protein in it. Back to his ears problem, Dr Ling suggest to flush his ears under sedation. His ears improved tremendously after 2-3 rounds of medication prescribed previously, but the ears condition is still not 100% optimal.
We make an appointment on 22/12/2009, send him to clinic in the morning, pick him up in the evening. I really pray that he can take the sedation well after all he is no longer a young chap.
Total damage done for the day: $109.00

Mummy's Weight: 52.2 Kgm (Failed weight test cos Dr Wong expect me to be at least 53Kgm)
Dr Wong commented that Sheldon is in perfect position. He show me where Sheldon's head, hand, leg and backside. This fellow has been using his backside to push his way ard. The other day I was telling him that now I know where is your butt, I will give you a smack if you dont obey what mummy tell you. Due to family has diabetes history, Dr Wong ask me to do a Glucose test.
Im suppose to fast from 12 midnight to 10am and drink a bottle of glucose thingy at 8am. But I overslept, only manage to drink the bottle at 9am so appt was postpone till 11am. Dr Wong drew my blood and ask me to return next week for check up again. He will be seeing me every fornightly.

Thomson Medical Centre Antenatal Class
Finally I have finish the 5 week lesson, I would strongly recommend 1st time parent to join the class as its is not only enriching, its also create a bond between Husband and Wife when they learn together.
To be honest, HB is better than me. He could wrap diaper, swaddle baby and carry baby far more better than me. He is the only Daddy in the class that do not require Mrs Wong to re-teach him all the steps.

Swim Wear
Finally gotten my swim wear, I decided to just get a normal tankini instead of maternity swim wear so that I still can continue wearing it after birth.
Im going for my first swim(during pregnancy) at Orchid Country Club later, hopefully the weather will be good.

Benedictine DOM
My parent bought a bottle of Benedictine DOM as a everyday tonic for me. My parents have been very thoughtful, when it come to tonic it always me first then the baby. I just love them so much esp my Mom.
As per Mrs Wong advice, expecting mother can only intake 1 small "cup" of the Benedictine DOM per day due to spirit content which is not good for the baby. "Cup" here doesnt mean the normal cup size we use, is the little cup that come along with the DOM.
