Simple Meals

Done up some simple dishes over the last weekend. Nothing fantastic but at least better than tabao from hawker center everyday.

Last but not least I always have a very loyal fan of my cooking that is none other than my hubby.

CNY 2011

This year CNY was great!! We managed the logistics very well and Baby S was very cooperative except for the feeding. We had the usual rounds of visiting but didn't really managed to catch up on the first day of CNY.

Our place was simply decorated and Baby S is very fascinated with the "rabbits" hanging on the wall.

Rieann Full Month Celebration

A very busy weekend for HB and I, Rieann's Full Month Celebration was the last event that end our weekend. She is the 2nd niece that I have. Happy 1 month old!!!

I didnt hesitate to buy a gift for her because I loving shopping for BB girl stuff. There is just so many to chose from. If I had a girl I probably be bankrupt before I can realise.

Just in case....

I wake up almost twice a night for toilet break. Most of the time I have to drag myself out of the beauty sleep to the toilet. There were so many times which I DREAM that I was happily sitting on the toilet bowl relieving myself, luckily I still managed to wake up and realise its only a dream.

I know many MTB does have this embarrassing moment were they no longer able to hold their pee in their sleep and wet the bed.

In order not to spoil my expensive mattress, I decided to lay a layer of absorbent pad underneath my butt before I sleep every night. Just in case........

Sheng Siong & The Wet Market Saga

Dont know why "tio" 4D and Toto also not so "zhun". One of the 4 markets that Sheng Siong bought over happen to be the one at our neighbourhood and that where we does our weekly marketing.

Apparently they will continue to operate the wet market as per usual but question is how long? No businessman will make a loss in any deals. Even if they were to operate the way it is, they will probably increase the rental of the stall and we as consumer will have to pay more.

Anyway we signed the petition. I guess the whole issue really blew up so badly that the GRC has sent out a circular to everyone in the neighbourhood to emphasis that the wet market will operate as usual despite hanging a big banner outside the market.

Opps the hard way doesnt work anymore yah? The people knows how to voice out and be heard.

My Mom has a new idol

Her new idol is BB JL and she is so Crazy abt him.........

She bought a 4 tier toyogo cabinet for BB JL's belonging. I heard that she bought hell lot of BB stuffs and she can even tell me she think of stocking up diapers now. I went shopping with her yesterday, the amount of thing she grab for BB JL is...... We spent another $50 for BB JL's clothings and those clothings are on sales.

My mom had even wash the BB clothing...... My sis thought she went to the wrong home after seeing all the BB clothing hanging outside for drying.

She was the one who tell me "aiya no need to buy so many BB stuff", see who is the kan cheong and kiasu one. She also said tt "Dont worry I will not spoil ur child",well I guess this is the first lie she said regarding her grandchild.

Whenever she shop for BB stuff, she will buy 2 sets, one set is meant to keep at her place the other set is meant for my place. My dad also bravo, he can think of a 2 years later plan. I told them if we put BB JL at infant care, they will have educational programme for BB which is a good stepping stone for BB JL. He told my mom after BB JL graduate from infant care, they will tk over to tk care of BB JL.

I can imagine, when BB JL is out they will bug me every now and then to bring BB JL to their place. Anyway this pair of grandparent left me speechless.....

爱美不是女人的专利

My Dad is a well known 爱美man, my friends call him 帥哥instead of Uncle. He is addicted to the Pure White Masque….. not bad wor, he apply more religiously than his 爱美daughter, cos yesterday I just help him buy another bottle and mine still have quite a fair bit left over.

My Dad not those typical Uncle in the 40s, who has a big belly and don’t dress up. He hit the gym at least 2-3 times a week and has a 6-pac figure, trim his hair neatly and dresses well for all occasion. I really salute some man who nvr bothers abt their hair or who “bothers but machiam nvr bothers”.

At least Im not too worried abt him unlike my mother, who nvr tk good care of her health. My dad don’t have a clean health bill but not as bad as my mom. Every now and then my mom need to go hospital for these check up for tt follow up. My dad has a minor cholesterol issues, and he is taking care of it very well. He takes supplement, see Sensei for regular treatment, watch out his diet and most impt he exercise to keep fit. So I rather he Ai Shui and keep a healthy living out of being a vain pot.

The point is if you don’t tk care of urself, nobody will. No one is responsible for your own health other than urself. Being overweight is not a fun thing, it often tagged long with high blood pressure, cholesterol problem and heart problem. I promise you soon, after these 3 good friends are with you, stroke and heart attack are highly to make friend with you. Then again when it happen its too late, u no longer able to live a life like before. Your family will have to tk care of you and if the attack is so fatal you might even lose the quality of your life. A very good eg which is my granddad, remember when I was young, he use to go ard and pick up toys and etc for us, he will be the one walking ard the neighbourhood to look for me when its time to head home. But now, he can be only be feed by tube, this didn’t happen overnight, its 1 good friend bring in another and transform into a mega issues. I feel sorry for him, after slogging more than half of his life time, his retirement time has to be spent like this. He no longer able travel with my granny and all he can is to sit, wait to be fed / cared for and waiting for the last moment.

The Man's Birthday

This month we celebrate HB and Boy's Birthday. We dont know exactly when Boy's bday is but he came to our place last year August, so I told HB to celebrate his birthday together.

During lunch time I went over to OG to get Bday card and pressie. Bought HB a new gun toy, he had the smaller version hence this time round I bought the medium size version. There is the Large and X-Large size version, but too bad, his preggy wife cant even lift up the large one off the rack not even to mention carrying it ard.

We had dinner @ Lau Pa Sat together with my mom. My mom bought him a Adidas bag and she nvr bought any bag for me before. >.<""

Head home and had a mini celebration with Boy. This old man was very confused why we were singing bday song and why there is a piece of cake with 2 candles burning in front of him. Poor Boy is suffering from diarrhea for 3 days....

Mother's Day

This year Mum dont want a Karaoke session, she only want a simple dinner. Hence I made a reservation at Master Crab (Ghim Moh branch). Heard waves abt their crab, hence decided to give it a try. Their salted egg york crab is pretty tasty, other than that nothing tt amazing. $194 for a 7 pax dinner is still affordable.

Anyway, Mother's day is not only the day we bring our Mom out for dinner. Hence to us this is just another family dinner.

365 days in a year and if you have only 1 day for your mom, then its time to reflect on yourself.

This year we bought mom a Guess watch.

Updates on Granny

Granny went for a heart scan on Tuesday, to confirm whether there were blocked arteries. The Doctor already confirmed that she has blocked arteries, is just a matter of how many arteries is being blocked and how badly blocked it its.

If arteries were not badly blocked, Doctor will proceed with "ballon" operation to clear the blockage. This "ballon" operation can only deduct $2000 from the medisave and the rest we have to upfront cash. 1st artery $2700 after deducting medisave, follow by $1800 per artery. We were asked to prepare at least 5K or more. Actually the doctor already hint to us before going for the scan that at least 3 of her arteries were blocked. So all in sum will be 6.3K, just that doctor cant make judgement before any scan done.

The good thing of being in a big family is that, when huge amt drop from the sky we can split among each other and the amt will become small to individual. Anyway Granny is blessed with children and grandchildren who have earning power. We can afford to have an aunt who work on ad hoc basis and able to take care of granny on full time basis. 有这样的福气我相信是奶奶自己修回来的.

The scan result was not good, 3 major arteries were 95% blocked. Due to the blockage area, Doctor couldnt  proceed with "ballon" operation. Doctor advise by-pass operation is the solution to her condition.

Doctor will advise us on the risk and we will need to discuss whether to let her go ahead with the operation. It is not a joking matter to put a 73 years old thru a surgery.

Today she went for another scan for her heart. Oh well there will be a voting going on soon.

Hospital Scare

Its been the 3rd time in 2 weeks that my granny was admitted in the hospital. Last Friday rcv a call from Sis to rush down to A&E immediately, the tone of her words already express how bad the situation was. Inform the necessary person in the office, grab my bag and rushed down to A&E. Mom called shortly after rush out of office, my first infor of the situtation was "Your ah ma might not be able to make it, quickly go to A&E now". I called HB to be on standby just in case anything happen.I were basically running all the way from Neil Rd to SGH A&E with my 3 inch heels. I have to keep controlling the tears from flowing out of the eyes. I can only pray for the best.

Paramedics and Doctor managed to regain her conscious. According to Aunt, she lost her conscious at home and body was already turning cold. Paramedics advise that BP was only 20 when they arrived. Both of my aunt keep calling her out and refuse to let her go. We were relieved when she managed to regain conscious and able to reply my DAD at the A&E. She was very very pale and condition were very unstable. We can do nothing but to wait and keep waiting for her all her blood test, XRAY result and Doctor's advise.

We only leave when she could be switch to the normal ward.

富贵手 Part 2

Tks to all the washing and using the old brands of detergent that I bought last time.  Dish drop is the still the best but I cannot waste the detergents that I have not finish using.

Luckily my honey lotion save my hands and recover quickly.

Nephew and Niece

Rey and Faith are brothers and sisters. They are my nephew and niece so dear!!!!

Although Rey is mischievous but he  still can be disciplined. He is so intelligent, learn things fast and talk well. There was once, I left their place, at the gate he told me "Ah Girl YiYi be careful okay." The sentence was so sweet. A little 3 yr old boy know how to show concern to others. He loves HB very much. HB shower him with lots of toys and attention whenever we are with him. He never fail to greet us. Sometimes certain things he say can seriously amaze us.

Faith is so adorable. Whenever she see me she will smile at me. She like to talk a lot, though its baby language, its so interesting communicating with her. She isn't those baby who cry non stop.  She already know how to flip and crawl by herself. The other day I saw her playing  on the bed all by herself, she was laughing away and when she saw me she just show me her hands asking me to carry her. I just love her to bits.

Basically I like kids who are well mannered. You can call me bias or whatsoever. I just hate kids who love to throw tantrum, cry non stop, cannot be discipline. I ever met a little girl when her parent ask her to greet me, she roll her eyes at me. How to dote on kids like that?

Neighbours

Ever since we shifted in during end of 2007, our immediate neighbours have been on good term with us. Although we rarely talk to them, but we do greet each other with a smile or a simple greeting whenever we meet.

Despite having 2 dogs, they did not show any displease with us. We as  responsible dog owner do our part to prevent our dogs from being nusiance to our neighbours. Even the Malay uncle staying below us is kind to our dogs.

All were well except the family staying right above us. Every Saturday the children together with MANY grandchildren of the old lady come back for gathering. I do understand big family tend to have more kids and such weekly gathering as family are sweet. Just like my maternal family, we are big families who rtn on weekend for gathering.

But when such gathering become another family woes,  and tt family who is suffering is me!!! Back then before we officially move in, we already heard kids running and screaming ard, as we didnt stay long in the house we just put it behind our back. We didnt realise that such screaming, running, jumping was a weekly affairs.

Basically, every Saturday, we hear loud thumping sound from above and kids screaming on top of their voices. We went up a few times and spoke to them nicely to ask them to mellow their kids down.

Last Saturday was superb, I heard my room light trembling!!!! As my light have a metal frame surrounding the glass panel, the metal frame trembling sound was obvious. In the past we only hear loud thumping sound and kids screaming. Now even my light is trembling!!! Things got really from bad to worse.

As usual, HB went up to ask them to mellow their kids down. One of the father of kids actually started flaring at HB. The mothers of the kids also join in arguement. How come we went up to tell you nicely to mellow down the kids but in the end we got 3 adults shouting against 1? Initally I didnt went up when HB went up to tell them nicely abt our situation, after a while HB didnt came down, I knew something went wrong. I head up to tk a look, to my shock all the 3 of them were screaming at HB.

HB nvr in my life pick a arguement with others, he might be unhappy abt situation but he will nvr pick a quarrel and chose to leave the situtation.

I went up to them and hear what they had to say. Its was really tough when 3 of them yelling at the same time. They even threaten us to call police and lodge complain report to authority. I would have done that early on if I dont care abt the neighbour relationship. Cos I nvr believe in resorting to such extreme unkind acts and spoil the neighbour relationship.

They accuse HB saying that we have a baby resting below, and many times we told them we dont have a baby below. But they insisted HB say that. I believe its due to 3 of them screaming at the same time and mis heard HB words.

We also tell them many times, that Saturday is our rest day. Everyone work from Mon to Fri and need a break on Saturday at home to get sufficent rest. Our rest at home nvr seem at peace with the thumping sound. Our home seem like going thru earthquake every Saturday. 

Were our request unreasonable? We merely request ur kids not to jump ard. We can tolerate occasional noise but not to the extend when my light is trembling.

They insisted that their kids did not jump. Oh well HB caught the little girl admit that she was jumping in the room just now. The boy was all drenched with sweats. How can ur kids be drenched with sweats when they merely sit down and play game boy as your say.  

After a long and tiring negotitation, they finally agreed that they will not let their kids play in the master bedroom and study room. We compromise. As long as they dont get overboard on the jumping and stay away from the room, we are willing to give in. 

Anyway I have not even mention the unkind words they hauled at us when we didnt even say anything sarcastic at them.  

HB ask me, you think they will keep their promise? Oh well if things really get out of hands, then I will need to apologise for asking the authority to assist on such situation.

I feel so sorry for HB the other day. Poor him caught in such unkind situtation.

Granny had a very bad fall and was hospitalised. Most of us went there to visit her. Grandaunt together with her family came and visit her. She saw me outside the ward. She commented 漂亮的妈妈生漂亮的女儿.

 

I replied tks. I tks her for complimenting my mom. Grandaunt watch my mom grow up. From baby to being Mummy and in time to come Granny. Even I also find that Mom is very pretty esp during her younger times.

 

Growing old is a process that we can nvr avoid. Mum grow thru 4 times of birth and so much to bring us up. Sometimes, its very sad we no longer hear praises from pple just becos we aged. That why I really appreciate this compliment from my Grandaunt.

Biggest Joke of the Year

Muahahaha!! Ok this time round Im the joker. Mom send me a sms on 14/12/2008 telling me that me chinese Bday is on 25/12/2008 and she will cook Mian Xian for me. Shortly after she called, asking me to go back for dinner yesterday as well.

So I happily merge the 2 events together and keep thinking the yesterday was my chinese Bday.

When I couldnt find any mian xian in the kitchen, asking my mom where is my mian xian. My mom then tell me its 25/12 not 17/12.

I have pple msn me to greet me Happy Bday, rcv flower and etc. In the end its a wrong date. Okay my bad!!!!

生病了....

这次是老公病到了.... 又泻又吐, 昨天喉咙不舒服和伤风..... 真要命....

平时病到不清不楚的往往是我, 有一次老公被我的病菌传染也病倒了. 这次不是被我传染的, 应该是吃错东西和着凉了吧. 星期一下了一整天的雨, 冷到不行. 也应该是晚上带狗狗去散步时着凉了.

最近天气不是很好, 大家要照顾好身体喔!!!

Health is Wealth

It seriously freak me out after hearing Dad is suffering from high cholesterol and minor choked blood vessel problem. Many pple think that Bypass operation is a minor operation, in fact many pple die during such minor yet deadly operation.

I bought Vit E and some other supplement for him to tk. I insisted he take it on a daily basis until he is due for his next check up. Becos of his 6 pack figure, nobody will believe that my Dad is actually down with such problem, . His cholesterol problem actually is due to his diet problem. Pig trotters and seafood are his favourite!!! Though these supplement aint cheap but Im willing to pay for it. Becos I do not wish to see him going for any operation.

Money is small issues, health is more impt than anything on earth.  

Mom is also going to start taking protein. Im very against slimming products! As she need to lose some weight, I recommend her to tk protein. As it rather feeling after drinking it, hence cutting down on food intake. Good for health and good for weight loss. 喝protein皮肤会变亮喔!!

Roman 6 in 1 Food Processor

Since the cheap fruit juicer died on us 1 month ago, I have been sourcing for a brand new one. Hubby wanted a food processor, I wanted a fruit juicer more. So most of the time we couldnt reach an agreement and left the store empty handed. Yesterday we wanted to go to Courts to get the fruit juicer on promotion @ $88, RP $199, but when we reached home it was too late to head out again.

Morning, on my way back after buying the breakfast, saw this weekend store selling Roman 6 in 1 Food processor. Its a multi function food processor and also a fruit juicer. I stood under the hot sun for 15 minutes to watch the demonstration. The lady was telling me if I have a food processor or juicer to exchange there will be a rebate of $80. I told her my juicer is faulty, but she say that they also take in faulty juicer. HenceI left a $50 deposit and they delivered to my place with some guidance on the processor. So we got a food processor cum a fruit juicer. All matter settled.

My fingers became too dry and outer skin start to peel off. Seriously very disgusting. I think its due to the detergent that have been using for cleaning up the house lately since Ah boy is here. Colleague say this is 富贵手 because destined not to be able to do housework chores. Hahaha LOL!!!
