General Election 2011

There were many 1st time in this election:
-1st time Singaporeans talk so openly about politics.
-1st time so many people went to support Opposition Parties' rallies.
-1st time people cheered openly for Opposition Party winning the election.
-1st time many people voted without fear.

The other day we had a family trip to IKEA, while having lunch we overhead a group of ladies discussing positively about politics. To our surprise they are a group of young ladies likely hood to had just graduated from University. This show that Singaporeans even the younger generation is more involved in the nation issues. This election has been a wake up call not only to the ruling party but also many Singaporeans not to be too complacent.

I can't help but to feel sorry for Mr Chiam for losing Potong Pasir. I'm quite sure although he lost the election, he has win many Singaporeans' respect. For a man who love his country and fellow country mans. For a man who gave so much to this nation and still believe in giving despite not being in the pink of health. I really salute and respect you from the deepest of my heart.

I'm hope that the ruling party will keep their promise of listening and empathise more on the citizens. I don't think we need a country with a highest GDP with their citizens barely catching up with the pace of life.

Below are some point I hope to see in the next General Election.
-Bukit Batok is at least a SMC. If Radin Mas and Bukit Panjang can be SMC, I don't see why Bukit Batok should be part of Jurong GRC.
-Fairer allocation in GRC system. (My gf who stay in Chinatown is being allocated to Moulmein-Kallang GRC.)
-No more of using upgrading as "bait" for voters to consider.
-No increase of deposit for any contesting party.

I hope in the next 5 years I can see the below:
-More accountability of everything.(Esp when a mistake is make.)
-Minimum CPF withdrawal date to amend back to 55 years old. (For goodness sake these are pple hardearned $$).
-Solutions for overcrowding in public transport.
-More help given to the poor and old.
-Making HDB flats more affordable to everyone.
-Tighter control of influx of foreign workers.
-Review on our education system. (We are suppose to educate them not train them.)
-More entries allocated for Singaporeans in local universities and more bursary given out to students to help cope with the school fees.

The General Election 2011 had been one of the most heated up election. Many people say the biggest winner is Worker's Party. Deep in my heart I feel that Singaporeans is the biggest winner. What have we won? We win our nation pride and took a step to true democracy.

I'm also happy that we have all been very civilized thru out the General Election. That is what I can't see in many neighbouring countries.

The General Election has come to an end. May I urged every Singaporeans to come together as one and continue to contribute positively to our nation. This country is worth we protecting and fight for, as this is a place we call HOME!!! Let us progress as One united people, one united Nation, One SINGAPORE.

Well done Singaporeans!!! Just like Mr Chiam, I love my country and my fellow country mans.

Prayer, not doctors, will cure my girl

US woman charged with murder for denying diabetic child medical care

May 19, 2009

PRAYER, not medicine, would heal their sick daughter.

Even when she had slipped into a coma, their faith did not waver, and they continued praying over her.

But what she needed wasn't just prayers, but medical attention.

Her parents did not give her that.

And now, they stand trial for her death which prosecutors said was unnecessary.

In March last year, Madeline Neumann, 11, died from undiagnosed diabetes.

The Associated Press reported that her mother, Leilani Neumann, 41, had said her family believes in the Bible, which says healing comes from God, and she never expected her daughter to die.

She has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide in her daughter's death.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Madeline's father considered the girl's illness 'a test of faith' and her mother never considered taking the girl to the doctor because she thought her daughter was under a 'spiritual attack'.

The family does not belong to an organised religion or faith. They have three other children.

During opening statements, assistant district attorney LaMont Jacobson told the jury this case wasn't about religious freedom or religious rights.

He said: 'This case is about Madeline Neumann's needless suffering and death.'

Mr Jacobson recounted a chronology of events leading up to Madeline's death.

She was called Kara by her parents.

He said: 'Kara was left to lay on a couch overnight in a coma and nothing was done.'

Mr Jacobson described how Madeline was lying on the floor, neither talking nor eating.

By nightfall on the eve of her death, Madeline was 'completely helpless' and her mother commented to a friend, 'she sensed the spirit or Angel of Death present at her home', Mr Jacobson said.

An autopsy showed that Madeline died from diabetes that left her with too little insulin in her body. Insulin regulates the sugar level in the blood.

She likely had some symptoms of the disease for several weeks and months, court records said.

The girl was finally taken to a hospital after other family members, including one in California, called 911 to seek emergency help, but it was too late.

The parents told investigators Madeline had not been to a doctor since she was 3.

Breakdown

Neumann's case is believed to be the first of its kind in Wisconsin involving faith healing in which someone died and another person was charged with a homicide.

She apparently suffered a breakdown as the events leading to her daughter's death were described in court on Saturday.

About 20 minutes into the prosecution's opening statement, she put her head in her arms on the table.

While she was being examined by paramedics, her lawyer, Mr Gene Linehan, told the judge that she was suffering a total physical and emotional breakdown.

About 30 minutes later, she was brought back to the courtroom in a wheelchair. Her lawyer said she was going to be okay.

The judge was expected to question her to see whether she'd be fit to continue.

Mr Linehan has said his client is expected to testify in her own defence.

Her husband, Dale Neumann, is also charged with second-degree reckless homicide.

They are steeped too deep in their dogma that they failed to realize that the kingdom of heaven lies not here, but only in their faith. This world is real and is not the same kingdom they have fervently wished for.
Wake up people.--
(This is something I cant agree more with)

God only help those who help themselves. Once my friend told me this thing abt cheap grace and I kind of believe tt lotsa pple abuse it. I have seen so many shallow faith believer, God dont forgive those who chose to abandon themselves and indulge in making mistakes in their life.

Tell me how many pple lives by good principal and good moral values of life.

It is good to have encouraging faith tt teaches you to be morally upright. Everything is good when you dont over do it. I found this piece of news on forum and thought this really a good piece of wake news for everyone.  If praying works, we dont need doctors.

Melamine

Now China and the whole of Asia is in a panicking mood of this Melamine issues. Seriously, I just cant understand why some merchant can be so inmorale. Milk are such essential in pple lifestyle, the most sickening thing is innocent baby getting sick after drinking the affected milk. Did the merchant ever have this question pop in their mind when they did such inmorale act? What if its they family/friends/baby dieing becos of their act? What a shame on such merchant.

I also bought a box of Mini Poppers some time back. After news came out, I went to check, indeed it was made in China. I quickly threw it away. I took 3 packet and my hubby took 1. GP say it shouldnt cause much harm to us as we do not constantly intake it. Phew.......
